A couple weeks ago I had shared my journey with AI and this concept of "Skill Stacking" and how with AI everything just accelerates. How I went from being a "GTM Executive" to an "AI Business Problem Solver". The big difference is that I solve these problems myself, despite not having the technical skills. What has also happened is that I now see business problems through an AI lens and I am not afraid to tackle them.
Yesterday, I decided to take on something that has been bugging me - "rebuilding my website".
For context, when I started my company in Feb 2024, I did not know if it was going to be viable, if this was just a passing fad, if I would give up and go back to corporate life. So I got myself a domain and for the first few months, just redirected it to my LinkedIn profile. I did not know how to build a website and I did not know what I would say on that website that I hadn't already said on my LinkedIn profile.
Then about 6 months in, people started asking to see my website and I went looking for AI Website Builders and tried a bunch of them, but did not have much luck in using them. I was hosting my site on domain.com and they had a website builder - old school drag and drop - and I built a website on that.
I hated that website and I hated that website builder.
It highlighted all my weaknesses when it comes to website building - I am not good at visuals, I am not good at color combinations, I am not good at writing marketing content, but I had to get something out there.
Every month I'd get that $16 bill and all it reminded me of was that I had a sucky website. It was a 1 page website and these are the 3 sections (see below). Definitely amateur hour.
So I decided to take on rebuilding my website. The good news is that I now have a much clearer picture of what services I offer, who my ICP is and what compelling work I have done. It is much easier to build a website, when you have something useful to say.
So I jumped into Claude Code and started the journey. It took me about 4 hours of work (and another couple hours to test and iron out the kinks) but I now have a new website that accurately represents what I do. It is much better looking and looks like a professional website. Through this process, I tweaked the logo a little (amazing what you can do with Nano Banana) and how far image generation has come.
Claude helped me not just build it but also took a lot of my raw materials and generated all the content. It helped me figure out where to host the website (GitHub Pages - who knew), how to switch the entries in domain.com to now point to my new website.
These 2 messages below were extremely fulfilling!! Check out the final product - www.vyceralsolutions.com
Yes, $16 per month is not much but the satisfaction that comes with doing something like this - is priceless!!
What will I take on next? I can definitely see "skill stacking" in action.
